Today we are going to looking at how is the chargeable weight determined. Chargeable weight is the greater of either the volume weight and the actual weight. The volume weight is determined by the amount of space that the shipment takes up.
The Actual weight is the physical mass of the product. Imagine you are shipping a large box of feather pillows or a brick of gold. One is huge and light and the other is small and heavy.
There is only so much space inside the truck or airplane and they can only carry so much weight. You need a way of working out how much the shipments weighs compared to the total space available.
